  • The West Brisbane Warriors Junior Training Program (JTP) is a weekly volleyball program designed to help young athletes learn, enjoy, and develop their skills in a supportive and structured environment.

    JTP is designed for a wide range of abilities, for anyone from beginners trying volleyball for the first time to experienced junior players looking to refine their game. Training focuses on fundamental skills, game understanding, teamwork, and confidence, with sessions grouped by year level and ability to ensure appropriate challenge for every athlete.

    Led by experienced coaches, the program emphasizes positive learning, enjoyment, and long-term development, while providing a pathway for athletes to progress within West Brisbane Warriors.

    JTP is ideal for juniors who want to stay active, build strong volleyball foundations, and develop a lasting love for the sport.

    If you are signing up after the term has commenced, get in contact with juniors@westbrisbanevolleyball to receive a prorated signup.

  • If you have never participated within the JTP program at Wests, you are able to come along for a session to try out the program for no signup fee. Please complete this signup form linked below this message to come along. Please note, this is not the primary form for JTP, and if you are looking to signup for the term, the official form (linked at the top of the page) must be completed.

  • JTP sessions will run weekly throughout Term 2 on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays, with multiple sessions running between 5:15-9:00pm.

    For Term 2, the program will commence in Week 1 of school (April 20th / April 21st) and run until Week 9 (June 22nd/ June 23rd).

  • JTP Term 2 will be primarily running out of Brigidine College, with BBC being used as an emergency back up venue if demanded (See links below for Venue Information):

  • For Term 2 , JTP will offer three nights of weekly training sessions, with sessions grouped by experience and school year level.

    To ensure the best training environment for all athletes, session selection should primarily be based on skill level and experience, with year levels used as strictly as a general, secondary guide.

    Foundational:

    • Designed for athletes who are new to volleyball or still developing core skills.

    • Focuses on the fundamentals: passing (digging), setting, serving, and basic attacking mechanics.

    • Suitable for athletes with relatively little experience, who are yet to be introduced into a competitive environment.

    • Sessions emphasise repetition, confidence-building, and understanding basic game structure.

    • Delivered in a supportive, structured environment with a wider range of abilities.

    Typical age guide: Years 4 to 6 (not a strict requirement)

    Intermediate:

    • Designed for athletes who can perform core skills consistently and participate in gameplay.

    • Suitable for players with school or prior program experience.

    • Focuses on refining technique, improving consistency, and developing decision-making in game scenarios.

    • Introduces more structured gameplay, including positioning, movement patterns, and team-based play.

    • Balances skill development with competitive, game-like drills.

    Typical age guide: Years 6 to 8 (not a strict requirement)

    Advanced:

    • Designed for athletes competing in school teams, development programs, or JPVL / PVL.

    • Focuses on polishing technical execution, gameplay decision-making, and tactical understanding

    • Includes position-specific training and system-based play.

    • Greater emphasis on game intensity, tempo, and performance under pressure

    • Sessions are structured around gameplay scenarios with less focus on learning core skills.

    Typical age guide: Years 9 and 10 (not a strict requirement)

    Wests reserves the right to adjust placements if necessary. If you are unsure about where your child’s level is at, feel free to reach out for consultation.

  • The Junior Training Program (JTP) is $180.00 AUD per athlete for the full 9-week Term 2 program.

    Payment plans are available on request - please note that the registration requires payment up-front.

FAQS

  • Yes, athletes can attend more than one session a week, however they will need to be registered for each session they attend.

  • As of Term 2, we will not be running any sessions for this older age bracket, however we plan to reinstate these sessions later in the year.

  • PlayOn! (PlayFair) Vouchers accepted at Wests - please reach out to the JTP Manager to activate your voucher.

  • If you wish to signup after the start of the term (first session), no issues at all!

    Get in touch with the JTP Manager, and we’ll guide you through with a pro-rated term cost.

  • Generally yes, but this will be dealt with on a case by case basis. The general rule is; given the session you are attempting to swap to isn’t at full capacity or swapping would impede either squad in any other way, a transfer will be granted.
